Since school is starting, it seemed appropriate to do at least one more fun activity to end the summer with a bang. After a very quick Google search, we found a place called Waihee Falls, which I actually found on a site that shows "Lost" film locations. It's about 10 minutes north of Kaneohe. It has a very well maintained road that leads right up near the falls. There are some steep parts, but the well maintained road makes up for that. The trail goes through a lush jungle valley below the Koolau Mountain ranges. There were quite a few ferns on this particular trail which reminded me of New Zealand. I havent seen that many ferns here before, so perhaps this is a wetter area.
The falls were about 50 ft according to my not-so-trustworthy guess. There was no swimming pool, but the water was very cold when we stood under it. I was surprised there was this much water coming off the falls because it is not the rainy season. I suppose it would be quite spectacular in the winter.
The picture on the left is a small fall I saw on the way back, and so I decided to take a picture. Turned out quite well! And this just after I used my t-shirt to get water spots off the lens!

Looks like a good activity :)
I forgot I was going to tell you that I learned in a couple photography classes that using a clean cotton cloth is the best way to clean off a lens. Just blow away the dust (I use a ear dropper/ blower thing) and then breathe on the lens and wipe off. Anyway...
thanks for the tip! I cleaned a camera lens on my trip to Kauai and about got my head ripped off by someone for doing that (well, I used my t-shirt, but it was clean)...never seems to have done too much damage. Funny thing is, the others persons shots have heaps of spots in them cuz he was too afraid to clean the lens...
